Teaching with confidence

The recent APPG report in Financial Education for Young People made some key recommendations in ensuring that schools and teachers are equipped to fill this skills gap, but you need to be supported to do this. It’s more than about talking at students about the dangers of debt but having the confidence to be a financial education ‘champion’; competently interacting with students and the local community about being financially aware. Our qualification can help you achieve this.

Becoming the first generation of Financial Champions will allow you to be confident and competent in co-ordinating and promoting learning and training in your local area. This will also give you an opportunity to network nationally to share good practice.

Modules

Assessment

You will be encouraged and supported to complete the programme in twelve months; however the maximum study period is two years.

The assessment will consist of both formative and summative approaches and is designed with teachers in mind. The dominant mode of assessment will be the end of module reflective assignment/research project as applicable, but online forums, essay style assignments and reflective journals will also comprise assessed parts of taught modules.

Resources

Virtual Learning Environment

Our VLE supports and guides students throughout their studies, week by week using a variety of online resources such as video, podcasts and webinars. Resources include a study timetable, programme material, interactive forums with online communication between peers and tutors and live or recorded webinars.

The module leader is able to advise on matters relating to curriculum, while The personal tutor is able to advise on broader matters, such as if a personal or professional challenge might potentially interrupt a participant's study.
