UK Financial Regulation (UKFR)

UKFR is in the trailblazer apprenticeship standard for Financial Services Administrator and the Compliance/Risk Officer. It will help you develop specialist knowledge of the purpose and structure of the UK financial services industry. 

About the qualification

UKFR provides a solid introduction to the financial sector, by exploring the rules and regulations that govern the industry and the social-economic factors that impact on personal financial plans. As a number of our qualifications contain the UKFR module, this provides you with an excellent foundation to progress onto study in other areas.  

UKFR appears in both the Financial Services Administrator and the Compliance/Risk Officer apprenticeship standards, providing you with a foundation which underpins employment in many fields within the sector.

Your studies will cover:

  • Purpose and structure of the UK financial services industry
  • Financial Conduct Authority (FCA’s) main aims and activities
  • Rules and regulations and the FCA’s approach to regulating firms and individuals
  • The main areas of financial advice, asset classes and financial services products
  • The impact of socio-economic factors on personal financial plans

The UK Financial Regulation is a Level 3 award registered with Ofqual in the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF).

Important Qualification Related Information


UKFR consists of one module comprising two units.

Module 1 - UK Financial Regulation (UKFR)

    Unit 1 - Introduction to Financial Services Environment and Products (L/501/8715)
    Unit 2 - UK Financial Services and Regulation (R/501/8716)

The environment of the financial services industry, an introduction to the main financial services products and the interplay between regulation and legislation.


Online access to study texts is available immediately after registration has been completed and hard copies will also be provided. The study text contains review questions and activities to support your learning.

  • Revision notes

Total Qualification Time = 88 hours.


UKFR is assessed through a two hour objective exam consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions.

The exam can be taken at over 150 Pearson VUE centres nationwide with the result provided on the day.
