The decision to change the name of ifs University College to The London Institute of Banking & Finance was informed by consultation with a wide range of employers from the banking & finance sector, particularly those who use our qualifications and CPD services as key components of their staff development programmes.

Through this consultation, it became clear that the introduction of a new name would be welcomed by our corporate partners.

We believe the introduction of The London Institute of Banking & Finance name:

  • Helps employers and their staff to better understand the professional and applied nature of our programmes
  • Helps organisations using our programmes for staff development (and their employees) to gain increased recognition from external stakeholders for their commitment to professional education, lifelong learning and high standards
  • Helps us to raise the profile of our organisation still further, which in turn benefits our corporate partners and their employees who are studying or have completed our qualifications.

A new professional qualifications offer

Another key outcome of our strategy review is a revised professional qualifications framework and offer. The new programmes offer a suite of flexible, highly relevant professional qualifications designed to meet the needs of employers and individuals across the banking and finance sector.

Further information on the new framework will be made available shortly.

Impact on students

It is a requirement that the awarding body on a student’s certificate should be the name of the institution in force at the time of the exam board which awards the qualification.

This means that some current students will receive an ifs University College award while others will receive their award from the London Institute of Banking & Finance.  However to avoid any confusion for students or employers as a result of this transition, certificates for students affected will carry a reference to link the new and old names.

These arrangements are set out in the following pages:

Part-time undergraduate and post-graduate degree students

Specialist and Regulated Advice qualification students
