Maria Carapeto

Dean

Maria is Head of Faculty and Associate Professor at The London Institute of Banking & Finance, and Academic Community Representative on the Board.  She holds a PhD in Finance from the London Business School; an MBA in International Management and a BA in Economics (equivalent to MSc) from the Portuguese Catholic University; and a Postgraduate Diploma, Applied Mathematics in Economics & Management - Econometrics & Statistics, from the Lisbon School of Economics & Management.

 

Maria is an experienced lecturer with a 30-year career in Portugal and the UK, in ten HE Institutions and 60 different modules, ranging from Finance & Economics and Statistics & Econometrics to Research Methods and Work-based Learning, at undergraduate, MSc, MBA, and PhD levels.

 

Maria is also an accomplished researcher in Insolvency, Mergers & Acquisitions, Banking, Corporate Finance & Governance, and Quantitative Methods, with 13 publications in high-rated journals, including the Journal of Financial Stability, Financial Management and the Journal of Corporate Finance, contributing chapters in two books on International Banking and Mergers & Acquisitions, and presentations at numerous national and international conferences.  Her work has been internationally recognised, with several citations in top journals, namely The Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Services Research, Journal of Financial Stability, Financial Management, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Corporate Governance: An International Review.
