External Examiner information

External examiners play an integral role in assuring quality assurance, and the enhancement and development of our programmes. The role is critical in maintaining the academic standards of our awards.

The principal responsibilities for External Examiners are:

  • Ensuring assessment (including exam) procedures have been fairly and properly implemented, and decisions have been made after due deliberation; and
  • Ensuring that the standards of awards and student performance are comparable with those in other higher education institutions, and that they reflect the principles set down in the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ)
