Phil originally joined Barclays in 1979, working in numerous roles in Corporate and Retail banking in London and Southampton. He had a leading role in the establishment of Barclays Offshore Banking. After moving to Isle of Man in 1997, he held many senior roles and was heavily involved in creating Barclays’ offshore subsidiary in 2002.
In 2005, Phil left Barclays to run Close Brothers’ offshore banking business. He subsequently established a consultancy working with financial services businesses to improve risk management and corporate governance practices.
Phil took early retirement in 2019. He is a Non-Executive Director at Cayman National Bank (Isle of Man) Limited. He holds an MBA in Financial Services, is a Fellow of London Institute of Banking & Finance and a Chartered Director. Phil remains an active member of the LIBF Isle of Man branch for over 20 years and is a past President. He is also an active volunteer of the UK charity Crimestoppers.
