Alex is our CEO and is responsible for our strategic direction. He is a member of our Board of directors.

Mark Heaton, Managing Director, Professional Education

Mark has primary responsibility for the commercial and professional education activities of The London Institute of Banking & Finance. He and his team are responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with existing and potential clients both in the UK and internationally. They help educate and professionalise the financial services workforce through a combination of market leading qualifications, training and continued professional development (CPD).

Richard Martindale, Company Secretary

Richard is responsible for ensuring effective corporate governance arrangements are in place, leading on corporate compliance, handling legal matters regarding the LIBF and embedding effective risk management.

Linden Muirhead, Deputy COO and Director of Learning Provision

Linden is responsible for leading the teams that deliver effective learning journeys for students of the LIBF across schools, colleges, corporate, regulatory, and higher education in the UK and internationally.

Ian Parrett, Chief Operating Officer





Ian has overall responsibility for all operational functions at The London Institute of Banking & Finance. He is also the Chief Financial Officer, responsible for all financial planning and financial reporting.





Dr Claire McCafferty, Director of Studies

Claire is responsible for ensuring the highest level of teaching and learning, and that the academic community is engaged and focused on providing an excellent student experience across all of our HE programmes.

Chris Ray, Director of Innovation and Transformation


Chris is responsible for leading business transformation activities across LIBF and Director of the Centre for Digital Banking and Finance.

Kareem Refaay, Managing Director, MENA and GCC



Kareem has primary responsibility for our professional education activities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and the Gulf region. He and his team are responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with existing and potential corporate and government clients in those regions.

Hema Tank, Managing Director, Higher Education

Hema is responsible for the university college including developing and implementing our Higher Education Strategy and for the quality, profile and resourcing of our degree programmes. Hema and her teams are responsible for recruitment and admissions, assessments and the overall student experience. 

Heather Tilston, Director of PR and Communications

Heather is responsible for public relations campaigns and brand positioning across all areas of LIBF’s activities. Her team also supports our academic community in developing and publishing thought leadership; and produces our member magazine, Financial World.

Suellen White, Registrar, Quality, Policy and Regulation

Suellen is responsible for regulatory compliance and the maintenance, development and enhancement of standards as reflected both by the quality of the academic provision and the overall learning experience.

Catherine Winter, Managing Director, Financial Education and Community Outreach

Catherine is responsible for The London Institute of Banking & Finance financial education programmes, including 14-19 qualifications, adult education and the Student Investor Challenge. Her wider responsibilities include e-learning, media and communications, events, innovation and transformation.
