It’s been 101 years since the start of World War I, also known as the First World War or the Great War, which began in 28 July 1914 and ended on 11 November 1918. Several anti-aircraft regiments were raised after the Zeppelin raids on London in the First World War and the Battery was recruited from men working in the Lloyd’s insurance market. It was named 159th (Lloyd’s) Battery. So when World War Two broke out, men from the City of London were already signed up and ready to fight.
