With the Student Investor Challenge Final coming up tomorrow, we take a look at the prestigious judging panel who will be scrutinising the group presentations.
Alex Fraser, CEO at The London Institute of Banking & Finance
Alex joined The London Institute of Banking & Finance in March 2015 from Cass Business School, City University of London, where he was Chief Operating Officer for six years. His career has encompassed leadership roles in the private, public and voluntary sectors. He spent 10 years working for a number of investment banks in a variety of operational roles; his last such post was as Head of Operations at Schroders in the late 1990s. Alex was appointed Logistics Director at HM Customs and Excise in 2000 and subsequently worked for a number of organisations in the not-for-profit sector prior to joining Cass in 2009.
Jenny Hammond, Presenter at Asset TV
Jenny Hammond is a presenter for Asset TV (partner of Bloomberg), hosting their masterclasses and news updates which are followed by a global community of 400,000 investment professionals. Considered a leading voice in financial media, Jenny has also frequently appeared on Tip TV's Investment Show, This is Money's property show and Property TV's (Sky 238) Property Panorama. With a degree in International Journalism and having completed numerous courses on international finance she was also one of the launch business anchors at Russia Today, the first China correspondent for Press TV - where she created and directed the bureau - and had her own daily lifestyle show on ICS, Levant TV and gbtimes.
William de Lucy, Co Founder at Amplify Trading
William de Lucy cofounded Amplify Trading in 2009 after eight years’ experience running a fixed income derivatives desk for GHTC. At Amplify Trading, Will has built a trading operation in London with a team of traders executing across multiple asset classes, a well-respected research operation and a professional development arm for new trading practitioners. He has developed extensive international experience in lecturing on contemporary financial markets to clients in the hedge fund and investment banking industry, as well as leading business schools in the UK and US. He has a specific interest in behavioural finance and trading psychology as well as the development of world energy markets, specifically in current and developing carbon credit schemes.
Sakhila Mirza, Board Member and the General Counsel at London Bullion Market Association
Sakhila has worked in the finance sector for 15 years, covering the oil markets and then moving to the precious metals market. She works very closely with the CEO on the strategic development of the London Bullion Market Association, by leading and working on several market development initiatives, as well as taking responsibility for all the legal work affecting the organisation. In addition, she has built key relationships with government officials and regulators around the world, and has spoken at several market lead conferences, educating stakeholders on the dynamics of the market. In the past, she has also spent time providing regulatory and compliance advice within financial services, building corporate governance programmes, and providing relevant training on various regulatory and legal matters.
Sakhila read law at the London School of Economics and went onto qualify as a solicitor.
