Graduation-celebration-2018Around 100 graduates and their proud relatives filled Guildhall to celebrate being awarded their degrees and other professional qualifications in banking and finance.

Our Chief Executive Alex Fraser had the following to say:

At graduation we celebrate the culmination of years of hard work for our students. It was fantastic to see graduates and colleagues share this success together and reflect on the achievements over the last year.”

The ceremony also honoured Sir Nicholas Montagu, Chair of the Financial Ombudsman Service, who was awarded an honorary Masters Degree in Banking and Finance.

Sir Nicholas Montagu is a retired British Civil Servant with a lifelong career spanning public services, financial services and higher education. He is currently Chair of the Financial Ombudsman Service and Chair of the newly established Charity Tax Commission. We at the London Institute of Banking & Finance recognised Sir Nicholas Montagu's distinguished career and contribution to the financial service sector at both a national and international level.

Alex Fraser commented on Sir Nicholas' degree: “We were very pleased to be able to award Sir Nicholas Montagu an honorary Masters Degree for his distinguished contribution to financial services throughout his career.

Sir Nicholas Montagu gave us the following statement upon being awarded his honorary degree: “I am delighted to be receiving this honour from The London Institute of Banking & Finance.  It is a particular pleasure for someone working in financial services to become an honorary graduate of an institution rightly renowned for the top-class education which it provides in that field.”

Harry Vernon, one of our 2018 graduate in BSc (Hons) in Banking Practice & Management, and he was our student speaker for 2018. Harry has been recognised for being a notable figure in the student community and for his excellent contribution throughout his three-year course. Upon graduating, Harry said the following:

I had a really great three years. I learned a lot and was able to network and form industry contacts.
