Apprenticeships: building the future in finance

Unfortunately this event is fully booked. If you would like to join the waiting list please email events@libf.ac.uk.

Are you an employer in the finance sector thinking of setting up a degree-level apprenticeship programme?

Or an individual wanting to explore what opportunities an apprenticeship could provide?

LIBF works with major employers in the finance sector to help them to train, retain and achieve great results by providing degree-level apprenticeships in banking and finance.

If you're an employer looking to set up an apprenticeship, this is your chance to hear from one of the largest financial services employers in the UK - HSBC - about how apprenticeships have helped their business adapt and thrive during a difficult year.

And if you're somebody who is thinking about exploring apprenticeships in the sector, you'll get to hear from an apprentice about why they chose this route and their experience so far.

Taking place during this year's National Apprenticeship Week, this webinar is a celebration of degree-level apprenticeships and the opportunities they can bring both young people and employers.

Who will be speaking?
Nigel Moore, Emerging Talent Manager, HSBC
Eddie Webb, Commercial Banking Degree Apprentice, HSBC
Alex Fraser, Chief Executive, LIBF
Karen Taylor, Head of Apprenticeships, LIBF

Nigel Moore, Emerging Talent Manager, HSBC
Nigel is the Programme Manager for the Commercial Banking Degree Apprenticeship Programme.

Eddie Webb, Commercial Banking Degree Apprentice, HSBC
Eddie started his journey with HSBC in October 2019 on the bank's first Degree Apprenticeship Programme. Eddie works within the Commercial Banking area of the business and has spent his first year within the Risk function. He has recently started his second year of rotation, currently working as a Business Analyst.

Eddie chose the apprenticeship route as he wanted to get hands on experience in the world of work. He enjoys the balance of work and studies, with both elements complementing each other. Eddie has recently joined LIBF as a trustee, to provide guidance from an apprenticeship perspective.

Alongside his degree, he has also had the opportunity to take part in additional learning, including the Bloomberg Market Concepts course (BMC) and Sustainable Finance modules.

Alex Fraser, Chief Executive, The London Institute of Banking & Finance
Alex joined The London Institute of Banking & Finance in March 2015 from Cass Business School, where he was chief operating officer for six years.

His career has encompassed management roles in the private, public and voluntary sectors. He spent ten years working for investment banks in various operational roles. His last such post was as head of operations at Schroders in the late 1990s. Alex was appointed logistics director at HM Customs and Excise in 2000 and subsequently worked for several organisations in the not-for-profit sector before joining Cass in 2009.
