The increasing importance of investment bonds in financial planning
< return to all events
Graeme Robb, Senior Technical Manager, M&G Wealth
In days gone by choosing between bonds and OEICs was often seen as an investment decision. And to this day there are some investments that cannot be held as an OEIC and need to be held within a tax wrapper. But in this modern world of open architecture, OEICs can be held directly by the individual or indirectly through a tax wrapper.
With Budget 2021 all the way through to Autumn Statement 2022 creating more taxpayers, paying higher rates of tax and coupled with the squeeze on capital gains and dividend allowances, the use of insurance bonds as a tax planning vehicle has become a hot topic.
In this webinar Graeme Robb, Senior Technical Manager at M&G Wealth, will look at the current tax landscape and what it means for those holding investments directly. Graeme will then look at the key tax benefits of life assurance bond wrapper and the advantages of holding OEIC portfolios indirectly through a life assurance wrapper.
The session will last around one hour with an optional 30 minutes after to 'Ask Graeme' any questions you may have that we can't answer within the hour allotted.
By the end of this webinar you will be able to:
- Describe the Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax treatment of directly held investment.
- Evaluate the benefits of holding investments indirectly through an insurance bond wrapper.
