Taking the time to sit and decide whether to do a Masters degree can be a long process and you would typically be in one or two categories:

1: You're close to finishing your Undergraduate degree and thinking of continuing your studies with a Masters.

2: You've been in your job for a while, and now you really want to push ahead. Studying for a Masters can help this but how can you fit it around work and home life?

So how can attending an open day help?

We are hosting a variety of open days to help offer you the chance to visit us at our Lovat Lane campus or talk to us through an Online session to see if a Postgraduate degree is right for you.

It will give you a chance to find out more about our part-time and full-time programmes and meet the academic team that will be teaching and supporting you during your time with us.

Getting the most out of the open day

We have put together some questions you can ask during the open day to help you get the most out of it and ensure you have all the information you need:

Questions to ask academics:
  • What is the split between seminars and lectures?
  • How much studying am I expected to do outside of contact time?
  • How much tutor support will I receive?
  • Are there any extra opportunities around my subject, such as workshops?
  • If I don't meet the grades, is there still a chance I could be offered a place?
  • Should I apply for more than one course from this university?
  • What will make me stand out on my application?
  • Will there be interviews before I am offered a place?
  • What careers support is there? Where could my degree lead me, and how will this university help me get there?
Other questions to consider:
  • What grades do you need – and can you still get a place if you don't quite get the grades?
  • Which qualifications and combinations of qualifications do they accept/prefer?
  • What do they look for in your application and personal statement?
  • Do you hold interviews?
  • What careers guidance facilities?
  • What bursaries, scholarships or fee waivers are there and how do you apply?

The Complete University Guide have also put together a list to help you.
