Certificate in Relationship Management (CertRM)

The Certificate in Relationship Management  develops your skills in business planning, account portfolio management, and the role of the relationship manager as a trusted adviser. Completion will provide you with the skills to anticipate, identify and satisfy customer needs profitably.

About the qualification

The Certificate is a comprehensive course, which develops knowledge of the strategic context and organisational implications of relationship management within the financial services industry. 

CertRM has been designed to be relevant for those new to roles in business and commercial banking, and corporate relationship management, as well as for the more experienced relationship manager looking to improve knowledge. Completion of CertRM provides credit towards our Professional Diploma in Banking & Finance designation.

  • Once you’ve passed you’ll receive a digital certificate. A paper copy can also be ordered for an additional fee.


CertRM consists of one unit.

Unit One: Relationship Management (RELM)


  • The commercial environment in which businesses operate
  • Different types of business customer
  • Relationship management principles
  • Business plan analysis and the role of the relationship manager in business development and customer retention
  • Business plans and portfolio management (including key account and portfolio planning)

Studying and Study Sessions

Online study texts are included in your registration fee and will be made available immediately after payment. At the end of each topic, the study text contains review questions and activities to support your learning.

This qualification can be completed in six months.

CertRM is assessed by:

  • a 45-minute electronic exam with 30 multiple-choice questions

The exams can be taken at a time and location of your choice at over 150 Pearson VUE test centres nationwide with same day results.

  • coursework submitted electronically through the course site

You will have 9 months to complete each module and sit the exam. Your first attempt at both the exam and coursework is included in the registration fee for the module. If you wish to retake an assessment you will need to pay a resit fee.
