We collaborated with industry experts to create CITF, which is a Level 3 qualification registered with Ofqual in the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

Unit 1: The International Trade and Finance Environment (ITFE)


This unit focuses on the commonly used documents, trade terms, methods, exchange risk and products that you can use to solve the problems you might face in international trade and finance. It also provides an overview of the impact and significance of sanctions, corruption, money laundering and fraud in international trade.


Level 3 CITF is a distance learning qualification and will typically be completed in six months.  

Study texts are included in your registration fee and you will have access to online study texts immediately after payment. Study texts contain review questions and activities to support your learning.

The following study materials are also included in your registration fee and are available immediately after registration:

  • a unit syllabus
  • specimen paper
  • a student-led forum

CITF is assessed through a two-hour objective exam split into two sections:

  • Section A – 80 multiple-choice questions
  • Section B – four case studies with five linked multiple-choice questions.

Once you register you will have 12 months to complete and sit the exam. Your first exam is included in the registration fee. If you need to retake an exam a resit fee will be payable.

You can book your exam at test centres nationwide or through remote invigilation.
