Student life

From the heart of the City, you can enjoy everything that London has to offer students.

If you study with us, you’ll get more than a degree. London is one of the world's liveliest capitals and offers a unique cultural and social experience. But, because we're small, our campus has a friendly community feel with lots of personal support.

Once you’ve received an offer from us, we can put you in touch with a student buddy who’ll help you prepare for student life.

And when you start at LIBF, you’ll find our peer mentors – current students – are on hand to help you settle in. You can ask them about student life, resources and where to go in your spare time.

Here are some of the key things you need to know....

Our campus

Based in the City, our campus is equipped with the latest learning technology, computer rooms, seminar rooms and conference facilities.

On campus, you will find the Henry Grunfeld Library, which houses core text, books, e-journals, extensive archives and the Bloomberg Terminal – the industry standard for trading room facilities.

Between lectures you’ll be able to relax in the common room with your fellow students.

Accommodation

We can help you find accommodation anywhere in London, through our partnerships with specialist providers.

If you’d like to live in the same accommodation as another LIBF student – and you’re happy for us to share your contact details – we’ll put you in touch with other new students.

And, if you’re looking for tips on finding accommodation, we’ll pair you up with student buddy who has been through the process before.

Student support

You’ll get one-to-one support from lecturing staff, the library team and the careers team.

Staff at our Student Centre are on hand to help you with everything – from academic issues and career guidance, to pastoral support and student engagement activities.

Our student mentor scheme offers support with study skills, motivation and time management from those already working in the industry.

Millie Montague, graduate testimonial

“London offers everything, but most importantly – opportunity. It is busy and alive, with lots of cool places to go and see. You will never be bored.”

Student representatives

Becoming a student representative is a great way to develop leadership and communication skills – and looks good on your CV.

As a student representative, you’ll attend meetings with staff and help us develop our learning, teaching, and assessment strategy.

Student societies

Joining a student society gives you the chance to meet like-minded people and develop practical and soft skills. Our societies include:

  • the Investment Society
  • the Politics Society
  • the Five-a-side Football Society
  • the 11-a-side Football Society and
  • the Women in Finance Society.

If you’d like to create a new society, we’ll be happy to support you.

Students Union

You’ll get free membership to International Student House (ISH), including access to their student bar – the Thirsty Scholar.

ISH provides support, accommodation and other services for students across London. It’s a fantastic place to meet other students and find out what’s on. They also have a travel club where you can get discounted trips.
