Financial technology is revolutionising every inch of the financial world and finance professionals with fintech expertise are becoming increasingly sought after. CFP will help you develop an in-depth understanding of the latest innovations in fintech, including AI, data analytics, blockchain, alternative payments and open banking.

CFP has been designed for mid-career professionals who are looking to gain a more advanced understanding of how digital technology is currently impacting the financial services sector. The course will also give you the knowledge required to identify new trends and embrace the future of fintech.

Average time to complete? 28 hours – but you have up to 12 months from registration to complete 
 Registrations You can register to study CFP but the learning materials will be published at the end of October for you to access.

How will I be assessed? End-of-module multiple-choice quizzes and reflective learning journal.

Once you've passed you'll receive a digital badge that you can use on your website, social media and email signature.

 Entry requirements There are no specified entry requirements. However, you'll need to have a strong understanding on the English language and be able to study in English at an advanced level.

CFP has five modules which you will need to complete to get the digital badge.

Global trends in digital finance and fintech

  • The global impact of digital banks, neobanks, and challenger banks on the current banking landscape
  • An introduction to WealthTech and robo-advisory and the opportunities and challenges they pose
  • The evolution of alternative finances and their success in different markets
  • The market development and advancement of embedded finance and it’s potential 

Technologies driving fintech

  • The opportunities and risks of data, artificial intelligence and machine learning 

  • The features and main uses of blockchain, distributed ledger technology (DLT), and digital currencies 

  • Understanding the regulation and risks imposed on digital currency 

  • An overview of Web3 and the metaverse 

Payments and open banking

  • The ecosystem and sub-sectors of payments and what the future holds 

  • An introduction to open banking and the various models used across the world 

  • An in-depth look into PSD2 in Europe and the UK 

Regulation and emerging markets

  • The role of RegTech and the key digital and traditional risks surrounding it 

  • The role of the regulator in enabling innovation and the global technology trends impacting RegTech 

  • The future of fintech in emerging markets and the impact on the unbanked demographic 

Sustainability and growth

  • A look into B2C and B2B fintech business models to create positive change 

  • The fintech funding ecosystem and key considerations when raising capital 

  • The value of partnerships in fintech and the risks, opportunities, and factors to consider  

Assessment

You will be required to complete two assessment components:

  • end-of-module multiple-choice quizzes
  • reflective learning journal.
You will have 12 months from your course start date to complete the programme.

When you've successfully completed the programme, you'll gain Certified Fintech Practitioner status. This comes with a digital badge that you can use on your website, social media and email signature.
